Art Deco 18kt Rock Quartz Lorgnette Glasses Necklace
A unique rock quartz crystal lorgnette necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! At the center of this beautiful piece is a lovely rock quartz crystal sphere pendant set within an 18kt white gold frame. Set between the rock quartz crystal ball is the expandable lorgnette, which is hinged at the nose and swings open mechanically when pushed. The white gold frame and handle are detailed with fine wirework and an etched design throughout. The top of the gold frame is stamped “MARSK’S” and “18KT”. The lorgnette hangs from its original, complimentary black cord, which hold four smaller rock quartz crystal 'pools of light' spheres. Each crystal rests in between complimentary white gold links, which are intricately detailed. It's a fabulous piece from the Deco period and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The black cord measures 36" long. When closed, the pendant measures slightly less than 2" long and the crystal sphere has a diameter of about 7/8”. When opened, the lorgnette measures about 3 1/4" long, and 7/8” at its widest point. The space between the lenses measures slightly more than 1 1/2" long. Each of the smaller crystal spheres has a diameter of 1/4".
Condition: The overall condition of the lorgnette and cord is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the rock quartz crystal spheres, or to the gold setting. The lorgnette glasses stay securely closed and the hinges are in good working condition.
