Art Deco Krementz Platinum & Diamond Lorgnette Glasses
A simply magnificent and elegant expandable lorgnette by Krementz. From the late Art Deco (ca1930) era, this beautiful lorgnette is set in a beautiful and ornate platinum setting with a handle that is encrusted with sparkling diamonds on the front, back and sides. The diamonds, which are old European cuts, are set in a soft, ornate platinum setting with milgraining throughout. The approximate total diamond weight of the piece is .70ct tw. The lorgnette opens mechanically by a small switch on the side of the diamond handle. At the end of the piece is a single jump ring which makes it easy to hang from a long chain. The underside of the nose of the lorgnette is stamped with a Krementz makers mark. It's a fabulous and special piece from the Art Deco period and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: When closed, the lorgnette measures slightly more than 3 3/8" long and approximately 1 3/4" at the widest point. When opened, the space between the lenses measures 1 1/8" wide and the length from end to end is 5". Each lens has a diameter of 1 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of the lorgnette is excellent. There is no damage to the platinum or glass and all of the stones are intact. The mechanical switch is in good working condition.
