Art Deco Sterling Filigree Lorgnette Glasses & Chain
A simply lovely expandable lorgnette from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This simple yet beautiful lorgnette is made of a sterling silver frame and has 2 reading glasses set within it. The lorgnette is hinged at the nose and swings open mechanically when pushed. The sterling frame and handle are detailed with fine filigree wirework and an etched design throughout. The lorgnette is attached by a complimentary clasped bail that hangs at the bottom of the long sterling chain. The chain is comprised of fine milgrained links and is fairly long in length, with a 4" extension. It's a fabulous piece from the Deco period and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The long chain of the necklace measures 24" long with a 4" extension. When closed, the lorgnette measures slightly less than 3" long and approximately 5/8" at the widest point. When opened, the space between the lenses measures 1 1/4" wide and the length from end to end is 4 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of the lorgnette and chain is excellent. There is no damage to the silver lorgnette setting or to the chain. There are a few minor scratches on the surface of the magnifying glass which is not uncommon for a Deco piece. The lorgnette stays securely closed and the hinges are in good working condition.
