Art Nouveau 14kt & Cabochon Festoon Moonstone Necklace
A stunning moonstone necklace from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) period! This lovely, feminine piece is set in 14kt yellow gold and is comprised of 29 small round cabochon and 30 larger sized oval shaped cabochon moonstones. The center of the necklace is lined with 15 horizontally set oval moonstones which connect to each other by simple gold links. The remaining 15 oval shaped moonstones dangle from the necklace vertically in a festoon style. Swinging in between each of the horizontal moonstones and from the bottom of each vertical moonstone are the 29 smaller round stones. Each stone is bezel set and is a very clear, pearly blue color. A 14kt yellow gold chain completes the necklace and clasps in the back. It’s a wonderful piece that would look great casually or dressy.
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 14 3/4” long. The oval shaped moonstones graduate in size with 3/8" wide and 1/4" tall being the smallest and 1/2" wide and 1/4" tall being the largest. The round moonstones vary slightly in size, however, on an average, each measures a little less than 1/4" in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the moonstones or to the gold settings and chain. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
