An absolutely exquisite chalcedony, opal and demantoid garnet necklace from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) period! This fabulous and unusual necklace is comprised of a large pendant that is detailed with a chalcedony stone, demantoid garnets and opals and hangs from a strand of chalcedony beads. The pendant is particularly large in size and made of 18kt yellow gold. It has a wonderful design with a gold leaf motif along the outside and a large chalcedony stone set in the center. The stone is bezel set in 18kt gold and is accented with 3 cabochon black opals along the top and a larger, single black opal at the bottom. Bordering the top of the larger opal are 9 sparkling demantoid garnets, which look simply marvelous with the variety of colors on the piece. The 3-dimensional pendant connects to the chalcedony beads by 2 connecting cluster links that are each encrusted with 8 demantoid garnets. These connect to the hand knotted chalcedony strand of beads, which are particularly large in size. The beads are the same size all the way around and fasten in the back at a gold clasp. They are strung on light blue thread that compliments the beads perfectly. It's a simply magnificent piece and would make any collection complete!

Measurements: The large gold pendant hangs approximately 2" long, is 1 1/2" wide and is about 1/2" thick. The length of the beaded necklace is approximately 17.75". The chalcedony beads have an approximate measurement of 15mm each.

Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, tere is no apparent damage to the gold pendant or large chalcedony stone and all of the opal and garnet stones are intact. In addition, there is no apparent damage to the chalcedony beads and the clasp is secure and in good working condition.
