Art Nouveau Sterling 18kt Opal Diamond & Sapphire Pendant
An absolutely fantastic diamond, opal, and sapphire pendant from the Art Nouveau (ca1910) era! The teardrop shaped pendant, which is particularly large in size, is made of 18kt yellow gold topped in sterling silver and is of French decent. It carries an exquisite and wonderfully ornate design, detailed with cutouts throughout. At the center of the piece is a large, oval shaped, cabochon opal stone which weighs approximately 4ct. An additional 5 opal stones surround the center stone, all of which vary in size and are prong-set within the piece. These remaining opals have a total approximate weight of 3.5ct tw. The floral design of the pendant is encrusted with several sparkling diamonds, some of which are bezel set and some of which are prong set and have a total approximate weight of 1.50ct tw. Also set within the mounting is 11 calibrated sapphires that have vibrant royal blue color and weigh approximately .50ct tw. The piece hangs from an 18kt yellow gold bail, which has a single tear drop shaped opal (1.00ct) prong set in the center. The opals have exquisite color which are complimented beautifully by the diamonds and sapphires. The pendant has a closed back and the craftsmanship is absolutely amazing. The special piece looks beautiful on and would make a perfect addition to any collection!
Measurement: The diamond pendant hangs 2 3/4" long, is 1 1/2" at the widest point, and is 1/8” at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver topped gold setting and all of the diamonds, opals, and sapphires are intact.
