Early Victorian 18kt Faceted Coral Day & Night Earrings
Stunning and unusual coral "day and night" earrings from the early Victorian (ca1850) era! These absolutely fabulous earrings are made of 18kt rose gold and faceted coral and can be transformed from simple "day" earrings to a more dramatic and long "night" earring. Each begins with a single faceted coral stone that is set in a scalloped edge bezel setting and rests at the base of European back earring wire, which fastens in the front. A drippy "night" link hangs from the "day" part giving them a fantastic look. At the center is an eye-shaped faceted coral stone that has a scrolled etched gold frame. Three teardrop coral stones dangle from the bottom of the center link, all carrying a complimentary gold leaf design at the very bottom. Each of these 4 coral stones are also bezel set with a scalloped edge. The "night" section of the earring can be easily removed from the wires as desired for 2 completely different looks. The natural coral has a wonderful, rich orange color which looks fabulous with the rose gold. The earrings wires are stamped, however it is fairly illegible. Very light in weight, these gorgeous earrings would make a great addition to any collection!
