Edwardian French Platinum 18kt Blue Glass Diamond Locket
A simply magnificent locket from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This fabulous piece is of French origin and has an absolutely stunning design. The locket is made of 18kt yellow gold and has a blue glass face. Covering the surface of the glass front is a fantastic floral pattern which is made of platinum. Each flower holds 4 old Rose Cut diamonds, which catch the light and sparkle beautifully. The locket opens to reveal a glass covered spot for your favorite photograph as well as the smooth surface of the glass face. The glass is a deep color, but when held up to the light, becomes an almost glowing blue that shows through to the front design. The back of the locket is smooth 18kt yellow gold and the entire piece hangs from a simple gold bail. It's an absolutely fabulous and very unusual piece that would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket pendant hangs approximately 2 1/8" long, is slightly more than 1 1/4" at the widest point, and has a depth of 3/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear there is no serious damage to the glass face or to the gold and platinum setting. All of the diamonds are intact and the locket opens easily and stays securely closed.
