Georgian 18kt Gold & Black Enamel Mourning Band Ring
A fabulous gold mourning ring from the Georgian (ca1825) era! This beautiful ring is made of 18kt yellow gold and has a lovely carved floral motif that carries around the entire band at the top and bottom edges. Between the two edges is smooth black enamel, detailed with gold letters that read “IN MEMORY OF”. The black enamel looks fantastic against the vibrant yellow gold. Engraved on the inside of the band is “William Janders Died June 27, 1825 Aged 55.” Above the inscription “SHG” and “18” are stamped, along with 4 other English hallmarks. This stunning mourning ring would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 8, but it could be resized very slightly if needed. The band is slightly less than 3/8" wide and 1/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold ring or to the enamel.
