Late Victorian 9kt Hand Painted Porcelain Indian Portrait Pin
A fantastic and unusual porcelain pin from the Late Victorian (ca1900) era! Set in a 9kt gold bezel setting, the pin has the hand painted image of an Indian woman wearing an ornate headdress. The portrait of the woman is highly detailed as she wears fancily decorated clothing and jewelry. The picture is hand painted on porcelain and portrays hues of gold, white, blue, orange, green, and yellow. A delicate etched gold frame surrounds the outside of the piece and the face has a celluloid surface resting on the front. A c-catch clasp is on the back, along with a threaded design. This stunning and unusual piece is simply marvelous and would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The overall size of the pin measures approximately 1 5/8" long, 1 3/8" wide and a little less than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the brooch is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the celluloid face. The picture is also in good condition. The clasp fits snug and secure, and is in good working condition.
