Vintage Signed AGE Sterling & Wood Earring & Necklace Set
Anna Greta Eker (AGE) was an industrial designer that was originally born in Finland in 1928 and relocated to Norway in the 1950's. She married Erling Christoffersen, head of the silver department at Norway's Applied Arts Center of Fredrikstad, and began designing jewelry. Known for her modernist designs, she produced many wonderful sterling silver pieces during the 1960's and 70's.
This wonderful set is a great example of Anna Greta Eker's talent. From the 1960's, this modernist set is comprised of a pair of earrings and a very large pendant on a chain. All three pieces depict a wonderful sterling silver and wood design. Each earring hangs from a silver wire and begins with a sterling ring. From the ring hangs a panel that has 3 holes in it. Looped through and dangling from the holes are 3 silver bars with 2 round wood pieces on each. The pendant hangs from a very long sterling chain and has a complementing design. The pendant begins with a large, hammered silver ring which attaches to the sterling panel. From the panel, dangles 4 silver bars with 3 wood pieces on each. On the back of each piece are the markings "AGE", STERLING 925S", "NORWAY", along with AGE's signature hallmarks. At the ends of the chain (near the clasp) are also several markings "ITALY", "925", "925 ITALY" and "AGI". Each piece is simply wonderful and the set portrays the great talent of modernist designer Anna Greta Eker!
