Victorian Sterling Silver Double Sided Etched Locket

A fabulous sterling etched locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The wonderful piece is made of sterling silver and carries an ornate and intricate design on both sides. The oval shaped locket has an unusual etched design on the front which includes a serene scene with a butterfly, bee and greenery. In the center is a textured vertical line that is detailed with intricate wirework. The back of the locket has a complimentary, intricate etched design with an ivy-like motif. A small beadwork border and a rectangular cutout frame surround each side of the piece. The inside of the locket opens to reveal 2 places for your favorite photographs. It hangs from a sterling fluted bail which is perfect for hanging from a long Victorian chain. It is a wonderful example of Victorian artistry and would make a great addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, is 1 3/8" wide and 1/2" thick. The inside of the bail measures 3/8" long.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear and a small ding on the side, there is no serious damage to the silver. The locket opens easily and stays securely closed.
