Victorian 14kt Etched Locket Diamond & Starburst Motif
A gorgeous gold locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is made of 14kt yellow gold and has a simple yet beautiful design. With a smooth flat face, the front of the locket is surrounded by a textured etched design which borders the entire oval shaped piece. In the center of the smooth face is a textured 6-point star that is engraved with a matching etched design. A single old Cushion Mine Cut diamond is set in the center of the star, weighing approximately .55ct, with H-I color and a clarity of SI2. On the inside of the locket is a place for 2 photographs; with glass on one side only. The locket hangs from a large gold bail which is perfect for hanging from a thick Victorian chain. It's simply a beautiful Victorian piece which would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2" long, is 1 1/4" wide and a little less than 1/2" thick. The inside of the bail measures 5/16" long and 3/16" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides a very small ding on the back and normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the gold or etched design. The glass on the inside of the locket is secure and the diamond is intact. It closes easily and securely.
