Victorian 14kt Gold & Diamond Lion's Head Locket
An exquisite raised lion's head locket from the Victorian (ca 1880) era. This stunning piece portrays the fierce repousse head of a lion which has fiery red ruby eyes and a single diamond clenched in between his front teeth. There are 3 engraved fancy script initials on the back of the piece which look to me to be "ALC". This fabulous piece would make a lovely addition to ones collection of fine Victorian.
Measurements: The diameter of the locket measures 1 1/2" not including the bail, which adds 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of this piece is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold and all of the stones are intact. The locket closes securely, however, there is a slight gap once closed, which is not unusual for a locket of this age.
