Victorian 14kt Gold & Faceted Madeira Citrine Necklace
The citrine is a member of the large quartz family, a family which has a multitude of colors and various structures. The most desirable stones have a clear, radiant yellowish to brownish red warm tone.
A beautiful citrine necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) period! This lovely, feminine piece is made of 14kt yellow gold and is comprised of 30 oval shaped faceted Madiera citrine stones. The stones graduate in size and are smaller on the ends and increase in size towards the middle. The citrines are attached to a thin fox tail link chain that hooks in the back. All of the stones are bezel set in 14kt gold and the top row of citrines has an ornate scrolled design that rests on either side. The larger stones dangle from the top row of stones in a festoon style. The citrines are a deep golden color which looks wonderful with the yellow gold setting. It’s a stunning piece that would look great worn casually or dressy.
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 16.25” long. The citrine stones range in size with .4mm tall by .3mm wide being the smallest stone and 1.2mm tall by .8mm wide being the largest stone.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the citrine stones. There is also no apparent damage to the gold setting or chain and the clasp is in good working condition.
