Victorian 14kt Opal & Turquoise Crescent Pendant Necklace
A gorgeous opal and turquoise crescent necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This exquisite crescent moon pendant adorns 15 graduating opals, belcher set in an 14kt yellow gold setting. The inner side of the crescent displays 21 persian turquoise stones, also graduating in size and bead set. The opal stones, which are simply magnificent in color with hues of green, blue, red and purple, are perfectly complimented by the vibrant turquoise. The fine wirework of the setting can be seen from the side of the crescent. The piece, which was most likely originally a pin, has been converted to a pendant, with 2 small rings resting at the top where the chain attaches. It is connected to a modern yellow gold chain that is stamped "14K" at the clasp. A real beauty, this unusual and stunning piece would look lovely worn alone or with other complimentary pendants!
Measurements: The crescent moon measures 1 1/4" tall, is 1 1/8" at the widest point and has a depth of 1/4". The chain measures approximately 18" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the crescent necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold pendant or chain and all of the opal and turquoise stones are intact. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
