Victorian 14kt Gold Repousse Flower Signet Ring
A signet ring can be represented with an intaglio, which is created by carving below the surface of a stone or by a simple smooth seal. Its purpose would have been to seal the wax of a letter or note.
A stunning gold signet ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This ring, which is made of solid 14kt yellow gold has an oval-shaped face with a carved center. The monogrammed letters, which look to me to be “RL”, are carved into the smooth gold center and on each side of the face is an ornate floral design that carries halfway over the band. The underside of the shank is stamped with a downwards-pointing arrow. This fabulous ring would make a beautiful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The signet stamp measures 1/2" tall and 3/8” wide. The ring has a finger size 7, but could easily be resized.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold.
