0071

A magnificent onyx and 14kt gold locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era. This exceptional piece is made of solid onyx and has a black enamel bail. In the center of the front of the piece is a single Mine Cut diamond in a high prong setting (with a weight of 30ptw). The locket opens to reveal a black and white photograph of an infant child. The hook bail has a black enamel surface and attaches to a gold jump ring at the top of the locket. The back of the locket is also made of solid onyx. It's a magnificent and unusual piece from the Victorian era and would make a great addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket measures approximately 1 3/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and a little less than 3/4" thick. The enameled bail attached to the top is approximately 1/2" long.

Condition: The overall condition is excellent. Amazingly, there are no apparent chips in the onyx or to the enameled bail and the single diamond is intact. The locket closes easily and securely.
