Victorian 14kt Rock Quartz Heart Pendant w/ Garnet, Turq Bug
An absolutely fabulous rock quartz crystal pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This lovely piece is comprised of a single rock quartz crystal heart which is fairly large in size. The crystal has a puffy, convex front and back with hand facets throughout. Riveted into the center of the heart is a lovely butterfly made of 14kt yellow gold. The bug has 4 bent legs and curled antennae with a body portrayed by a single cabochon garnet and turquoise stone. Six seed pearls are set within the open wings of the butterfly and 2 old Rose Cut diamonds act as its eyes. The pendant has a wonderful 3-dimensional look with lovely detail throughout. Riveted into the top of the piece is a 14kt yellow gold bail which makes it perfect to hang from a complimentary gold chain. It's a simply magnificent and unusual piece and would make any collection complete!
Measurements: The rock quartz crystal pendant hangs approximately 1 7/8" long, is a little less than 1 1/2" wide and is about 3/4" thick from the back to front of garnet body. The interior of the bail measures a little more than 1/4" tall and 1/4" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the crystal heart or to the gold bail and bug. All of the pearls, garnet and turquoise stones are intact.
