Victorian 14kt Yellow Gold Engraved Thimble in Box
A fantastic and unusual gold thimble from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This lovely piece is made of vibrant 14kt yellow gold and was most likely originally purchased as a souvenir. The head of the thimble is covered in several dimples that continue around the sides. Below the layer of dimples is a smooth gold band, which is hand engraved with the initials “E.A.H.” on one side and portrays a highly detailed depiction of trees, a house, a bridge and two brick towers on the other side. The lip of the thimble has an engraved scrolled design and on the inside is the stamp “14K”. The piece comes with its original wooden box which displays a picture of a town, and says “BOURNEMOUTH FROM TERRACE MOUNT.” The inside of the case is covered in a bright red velvet fabric. This thimble is stunning and would make a fabulous addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The thimble measures 3/4” tall and has a diameter of slightly more than 5/8”.
Condition: The overall condition of the thimble is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold thimble or to the box.
