French paste is a Vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using real gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.

Stunning earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These fabulous French paste hanging earrings are comprised of a single paste stone that is set in a lovely 14kt yellow gold buttercup setting. Each stone measures approximately .75ct and both are sparkling and white. These hand cut, faceted French paste earrings are simply lovely and look just like the real thing! They would look beautiful worn as an everyday indulgence or for a night out on the town!

Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 3/4" long. Each buttercup setting and paste stone measures a little less than 1/2" wide and has a depth of a little more than 1/4".

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting or wires. The stones are bright and clear and very sparkly, however, there are some chips along the edges of one of the stones. These chips aren't noticeable when the earrings are worn.
