Victorian 15k Gold Diamond & Amethyst Intaglio Ring

Product SKU
MWH70015

The opposite of a cameo, an intaglio is created by carving below the surface to produce an image in relief with the purpose of pressing into sealing wax.

A gorgeous intaglio ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This signet ring has a rounded rectangular shaped amethyst stone with an intaglio carved into the center. The carved image appears to be a family crest, and the stone is prong-set in a 15kt yellow gold mounting. Set within each of the prongs is an old Rose Cut diamond, which adds a unique touch to the piece. On each side of the intaglio stone is an ornate embossed design which finishes the look of the piece perfectly. This fabulous ring would make a beautiful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The intaglio measures slightly more than 1/2" wide and just less than 5/8" tall. The ring has a finger size 7.25 but could easily be resized.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold mounting or to the amethyst stone and all of the diamonds are intact.
