Victorian 15kt Gold English Wide Book Chain Necklace

An absolutely exquisite gold book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stunning handmade piece is comprised of alternating gold links which come together and form a wide, flat chain. The necklace is made of 15kt yellow gold and has a high karat bloom finish which gives it a bold, rich color. The rectangular shaped links are hollow inside and have a smooth surface. The chain clasps in the back and swing-down spring ring rests at the center which is perfect for hanging a complimentary gold locket or pendant from it. The tongue of the clasp is stamped "15". It is a beautifully handmade piece that is very light to wear. It looks wonderful worn alone or with a large gold locket hanging from it.

Measurements: The book chain measures 17" long, is a little less than 1" wide and is 1/4" thick. The swing-down spring ring has a diameter of 1/4". 

Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold links and the clasp and spring ring fasten securely and are in good working condition. There are some surface scratches on the back of the chain however they are unnoticeable when worn. This is not uncommon for a Victorian piece.
