Victorian 15kt Gold & Faceted Amethyst Earrings
Absolutely stunning earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These fabulous, long hanging earrings are ornately detailed and comprised of 15kt yellow gold and amethyst stones. Attached to a 14kt gold wire is an oval shaped faceted amethyst which is prong set and rests in the center of fancy open gold setting. Dangling from the surmount is a much larger, ornately decorated gold section which is also open. Prong set and again resting in the center is another, larger faceted amethyst stone. The amethysts measure approximately 2ct each for the smaller ones and approximately 4 1/2ct each for the larger stones. The gold detail portrayed in these earrings is simply exquisite. Scrolled and flowing, it is delicate and feminine and compliments the deep, rich purple amethyst stones wonderfully. They are a fine example of Victorian jewelry and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 1/2" long, approximately 1" at the widest point and have a depth of 1/4".
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. The stones are secure and intact and there is no apparent damage to gold setting or wires.
