Victorian 18kt Hand Wrought Bracelet w/ Amethyst & Diamond
A beautiful and unusual hand wrought gold bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The piece, which is made of 18kt yellow gold, is comprised of 6 hand wrought links that come together at an extravagant large center link. The center piece is portrayed by the heads of 2 bird-like figures with their open mouths grasping a center textured vessel. On the top of the figure is a raise 4-leaf design that holds up a single bezel set old Rose Cut diamond. Set in the back of the head of each bird is another Rose Cut diamond, both being pear shaped and the eyes are represented by cabochon amethyst stones. The bracelet is magnificently detailed with the entire surface being textured and a hollow inside. The clasp is hidden within one of the underside links and has a safety clasp for added security. The bracelet has two additional links that could be added to increase the size. As is, it would rest nicely on a small sized wrist. By adding the 2 additional links, the bracelet would fit nicely on an average sized wrist. It's a stunning piece with a very unusual look and would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurement: Currently, the opening of the bracelet (where your wrist would rest) measures approximately 2 5/8" wide and 1 1/2" tall. Each link measures approximately 3/8" long so if the 2 extra links were added, the bracelet would increase in size by approximately 3/4". The width of the surface of the bracelet graduates in size from 3/8" wide to 3/4" inches wide. When worn, the bracelet sits 1 1/8" atop the wrist.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Because the bracelet is hollow inside and very light in weight, there are a few very minor spots that are pushed in slightly. None of which are noticeable when worn. Besides these minor dings, there is no serious damage to any of the gold links and the clasp and safety chain is secure and in good working condition. All of the stones are intact.
