An absolutely fabulous carved angel skin coral pin from the Victorian (ca1880) time period. The piece, which is made of 18kt yellow gold depicts the carved face of a woman with perfect ringlets and flowers in her hair. The coral is angel skin coral which gives it that soft pink color. There are 2 Square Cut diamonds set to represent her sparkling eyes which weigh approximately 1 ptw. A single Emerald Cut ruby represents her bright red lips and has a total weight of approximately 5 ptw. At the top of the carved coral face sits a single bezel set diamond stone which dangles freely from a bar which hangs from the larger bow. In the center of the intricate gold bow is another single bezel set diamond. Directly underneath the face is a third bezel set diamond set in the center of another, smaller bow. These three diamonds are all Mine Cuts and have a total weight of approximately 15 ptw. At the very bottom of the pin is what looks to me to be a representation of a type of instrument with 10 small Mine Cut diamonds. The face is intricately hand carved with stunning detail and is an unusual and beautiful Victorian piece.
Measurements: The pin measures approximately 2 1/4" at the longest point and 7/8" at the widest point. The individual coral face is approximately 9/16" long and 7/8" wide. The gold bow on the top measures approximately 7/8" long and 3/4" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. The clasp of the pin is secure and in good working condition and there is no apparent dammage to the coral or metal. All of the stones are intact.
