Victorian English Sterling Watch Chain & Medallion Necklace
An absolutely fabulous English sterling and gold necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unique piece is comprised of a Prince Albert watch chain made of long, open, sterling silver links. Attached to the chain is a compilation of 5 medallions, all of which are sterling with 9kt rose gold centers. The largest pendant, which hangs from the center of the chain, is oval in shape and has a leaf motif, with a rose gold shield at its center. Two smaller medallions hang from each side of the center pendant. The back of each medallion is stamped with multiple hallmarks. The back of one pendant is engraved with “S.S.S.A.F.L”, “DAVID THOMAS CUP”, and “RUNNER UP 1927-8”. Another medallion has “C.V.K.O”, “WINNERS”, and “1936-7” engraved on its back. Each link of the chain is stamped with a hallmark as well. The compilation of medallions makes this necklace very unique! It is a beautiful piece and would be a perfect addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures 20.5" long. The largest pendant measures 1 1/2" tall, 1 1/4” wide, and less than 1/8” thick. The smallest pendant measures 1 1/4” tall, 1” wide, and has a depth of less than 1/8”.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain and pendants is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling or rose gold. The clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
