Victorian Etruscan 15kt Yellow & Rose Gold Urn Book Chain

An absolutely exquisite Victorian (ca1880) gold book chain. This stunning piece is comprised of alternating urn-shaped and round 15kt gold links. The urn-shaped links are 15kt yellow gold and are hollow inside with an ornate gold Etruscan wirework design on the surface. The center of each link is pinched on both sides and is made of rose gold. The alternating round links are also made of 15kt rose gold. The contrasting colors in gold give the necklace a wonderful, rich look. The clasp looks to be original and is a large size, perfect for hanging a complementary Victorian locket or pendant from. It is a beautifully handmade piece that is very light to wear. It is one of the most gorgeous Victorian book chains that I have ever seen!

Measurements: The book chain measures 21 3/4" long. The urn-shaped links are slightly less than 1/2" wide, slightly more than 1" long and 3/8" thick. The round links have an approximate diameter of 1/2".

Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold or Etruscan wirework. There are some surface scratches on the back of the chain however they are unnoticeable when worn. The book chain has some natural patina, which is not uncommon for a Victorian piece. The clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition.
