Victorian Huge 14kt Gold & Carnelian Agate Earrings
Wonderful and unusual carnelian agate earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each earring begins with a smooth ball of carnelian which has a 15kt yellow gold wire riveting through the center and attaches to a gold earring wire. Swinging from the bottom of the carnelian bead is an oval shaped flat plaque of carnelian agate that is very large in size. The plaques are bezel set in 15kt gold and have small accenting prongs bordering the entire stone. Each stone has gorgeous hues of orange, red, tan and white with slanted banding running through the stone. These stunning earrings are in beautiful condition and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 3/8" long. The larger carnelian agate plaques measure 1 5/8" long, are 1 1/4" at the widest point and have a depth of 1/4". The carnelian balls have a diameter of 8.5mm.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the carnelian agate stones or to the gold setting or wires.
