A fabulous moonstone locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous locket is made of 14kt yellow gold and oval in shape. It is ornately detailed with a fantastic design of fine Etruscan wirework and beadwork and complimentary enameling. In the center of the piece is a large bezel set cabochon moonstone which is very clear with an iridescent blue color. Framing the moonstone are small gold balls, as well as circles of beautiful enamel. Each enameled circle has sky blue at its center with an outer white frame. The color of the enameling compliments the moonstone perfectly! A gold bead border surrounds the outside of the locket, with the larger balls rounding the bottom half of the locket. At the top of locket is a large, complimentary fluted bail, which is perfect for hanging from a heavy Victorian chain. The back of the locket reveals a glass-covered spot for a favorite photograph. The frame of this spot is simple smooth gold. This locket is particularly large in size and a beautiful example of Victorian artistry. It would make a great addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, measures 1 1/8" wide and 1/2" at the thickest point. The bail measures slightly more than 1/2” long and 3/8” wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. There is no serious damage to the gold or to the Etruscan wirework and beadwork design. There is some normal surface wear to the gold and to the center moonstone which is not unusual for a Victorian piece.
