Victorian S/S Turquoise & Pearl Earring Pin/Pendant Set
An absolutely exquisite turquoise and pearl set from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Comprised of a pair of earrings and a very large pin/pendant, all three pieces depict a wonderful complimentary design with handset turquoise, and pearls. Made of sterling silver, each earring begins with a cabochon turquoise stone bezel set within sterling silver and surrounded by seed pearls. Hanging from this topper is a unique design of three bulging columns of vibrant turquoise. Below this turquoise section is a row of lovely pearls, with 6 pearl spikes hanging from it. Freely dangling from behind the pearls are 5 turquoise covered, teardrop shaped vessels, which give the earrings a 3-dimensional look. The earrings hang from European wires which clasp in the front and the larger, bottom link can be removed completely, transforming them from day to night earrings. The pin, which can also be worn as a pendant, is very large in size with a scroll-like design. The entire piece is covered in gorgeous cabochon turquoise stones, as well as several pearls. A pin and safety clasp can be found on the back and three small loops, as well as two larger loops can be found at the top of the piece which makes it easy to attach a thin chain and worn as a pendant. Each piece is simply wonderful and it is certainly one of the most gorgeous Victorian sets that I have ever seen!
Measurements: Each earring hangs 2 5/8" long, is 3/4" at its widest point and measures less than 1/8” in depth. The pin/pendant measures slightly more than 2 1/4" wide, 1 3/8" tall and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the set is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting and all of the turquoise and pearls are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
