Vintage 18kt Tiffany Paloma Picasso Huge Link Necklace
Paloma Picasso, daughter of Pablo Picasso was born April 19, 1949 in Vallauris France. Surrounded by artists from a very young age, Paloma worked as a costume designer when some of her jewelry creations caught the attention of critics. She then went on to design jewelry for Zolotas, Yves Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co. She eventually launched her own line creating perfume and designer accessories.
This absolutely fantastic necklace was a piece that was designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co. It's a one-of-a-kind gold link necklace from the 1980's and was most likely worn as a runway piece. The necklace has an extravagant look and is comprised of 28 slightly graduating smooth gold links that are very large in size and made of 18kt gold. All but 2 of the links are a vibrant yellow gold and the largest, center links are made of white and rose gold. The necklace hangs very long and makes a stunning statement when worn. The color of the gold is very rich and the contrast of the mixed gold colors is wonderful. The large white gold link is etched with the "Paloma Picasso" hallmark and one of the smaller yellow gold links is stamped "(c) Paloma Picasso", "TIFFANY & Co.", "750" and "ITALY". A magnificent necklace, the piece would make a perfect addition to any Paloma Picasso collection!
Measurements: The overall length of the necklace measures 38" long. The links graduate slightly in size with a little less than 3" wide, a little less than 2" long and 1/4" thick being the largest to a little more than 2" wide, 1 1/2" long and 1/4" thick being the smallest.
Condition: The overall condition of the large link necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear there is no serious damage to the gold links.
