Art Nouveau 14kt Gold Figural Motif Signet Ring
A signet ring can be represented with an intaglio, which is created by carving below the surface of a stone, or by a simple smooth seal. Its purpose would have been to seal the wax of a letter or note.
A stunning yellow gold signet ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1900's) era! Made of 14kt yellow gold, the ring has a shield-shaped center with a smooth surface. On each side of the signet is a lovely figural portrayal of a woman, depicted with her arms raised behind her head and hair draping over each shoulder. The rest of the band is comprised of flowing, swirled detail in a subtle floral motif, which extends up to the torso of each woman, completing the gorgeous Art Nouveau design. The ring is beautiful and could be engraved with a set of initials if desired, or simply left smooth in the center. It looks gorgeous when worn and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The ring has a large finger size of 8 but could possibly be re-sized slightly. The face of the ring measures 1/2" tall and 3/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or figural design.
