Art Deco Bohemian Garnet Double Hoop Earrings

SKU: 27974

Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones uded in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed back setting made of rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold.'

A stunning pair of bohemian garnet earrings from the late Art Deco (ca1930) era! Made of gilded silver, the earrings are comprised of two open hoops, one resting inside the other. The entire front surface of each hoop is formed by a row of fiery red garnet stones. The garnets are faceted and display a rich, deep red color that looks simply marvelous. Holding the hoops in place is a vertical bar topped with three garnets which allows the earrings to have movement when worn. Each earring hangs from a hinged wire which is adorned with 2 additional garnet stones. The earrings would look fabulous worn day or night and would make a gorgeous addition to any jewelry collection!

Measurements: The earrings hang 2 1/4" long, are 1 1/4" wide and approximately 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded silver or to any of the garnet stones, all of which are intact. The earrings wires are secure and in good working condition.
