Art Deco Carved Rock Quartz Crystal Buddha Pendant
The ancient Indian figure Siddhartha Gautama, now commonly referred to as simply "Buddha," was a sage who lived around 500 BC. His influential teachings are the philosophies on which Buddhism was founded. The word Buddha means "awakened one" or "enlightened one." The universally recognized symbol of Buddha has been depicted in countless works of art throughout the ages, and has also been a longstanding representation in jewelry. Traditionally shown in a state of deep meditation, Buddha represents a harmonious balance of both wisdom and inner peace.
A wonderful and artistic Buddha pendant from the late Art Deco (ca1930) era! Completing the design is a wide halo at the top of the piece, which is attached to a simple sterling silver bail. The pendant has a wonderful and artistic design, and would look wonderful worn on a simple, long chain. It would make a special addition to any collection!
