Art Nouveau Silver Enamel Pansy Flower Slide Locket
A lovely and unusual slide locket from the Art Nouveau period (ca1900)! This fantastic piece is made of silver and portrays the shape of a purple pansy flower. The entire face of the piece is covered in a detailed painted design of a flower with an enameled surface. The pansy has hues of purple, white and yellow and has a life-like appearance. The piece slides open to reveal a shallow compartment which one could put a favorite photograph or round mirror and the back is smooth sterling. It hangs from a simple sterling bail and the underside of the front surface is stamped "800". It's a wonderful and feminine piece that would look lovely worn on a long sterling chain.
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2" tall, is 1 1/2" wide and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the slide locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver or enameling and the locket slides open easily.
