Tiger claw jewelry became popular during the British colonization of India during the Victorian period. This period was known as the British Raj (Hindi for 'rule'). The pieces were produced to appeal to the British travelers as souvenirs with an Indian flare. This craft is now banned which makes the older pieces very collectible.

A wonderful tiger claw pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! The pendant is comprised of a single authentic tiger claw, which is set in a smooth 10kt yellow gold cap. At the top of the gold cap setting is a simple jump ring, making the pendant easy to hang and wear from a chain. The size of the piece is also ideal for incorporating into a bracelet or necklace as a unique charm. This fabulous pendant is an excellent example of traditional Victorian tiger claw jewelry from India and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 1/8" long and is 3/16" thick. The claw measures slightly more than 1 1/4" wide in total and 5/8" wide at the top.

Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the tiger claw. The bail is secure and in good working condition.
