Victorian Large Gunmetal, Turquoise & Gold Filled Locket
A fabulous large gunmetal locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unusual piece is particularly large in size and made of gunmetal, forming a rectangular shaped locket. The gunmetal has a wonderful dark matte finish and is accented on both sides with delicate turquoise stones. The turquoise displays a range of beautiful blue colors and looks wonderful against the contrasting dark background. At the top of the locket is a gold filled bail and push clasp, allowing the piece to open and snap shut securely. The inside of the locket reveals two generously sized spaces to store photographs behind glass. A very unique piece, it would look fabulous hanging from a long chain. It's a magnificent locket and would make a very special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 7/8" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is very good. All of the turquoise stones are intact and the locket opens easily and closes securely. There is some surface wear on the outside of the piece where the gunmetal shows signs of age, not an uncommon trait for a Victorian era piece. One side of the locket shows more wear than the other, however it does not detract from the beauty of the piece and is not noticeable when worn.
