A fabulous enamel dragonfly pin from the Art Nouveau (ca1910) era! This wonderful piece is made of sterling silver and depicts a lovely dragonfly with open wings. The body of the bug is portrayed by a prong set pink French paste stone which is set in the center. The wings and curved tail of the dragonfly display vibrant hues of white, green, purple and blue and an engraved design can be seen beneath the enameling. Antennae sprout from the top of the bug and 2 red paste stones represents its eyes. On the back is the original c-catch clasp and on the underside are the English markings “AJS” along with an anchor, a lion and the letter "W". It's a wonderful pin and would be fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurement: The pin measures a little less than 1 1/2” wide, 1 3/8" at the tallest point and is slightly less than 1/4" at its deepest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the sterling setting and all of the paste stones are intact. The pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
