French paste is a Vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using real gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.
An absolutely gorgeous French paste bracelet from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! This stunning piece is made of sterling and features an exquisite French paste design. The piece is comprised of sterling links that hinge together to form a flexible bracelet. The design features three large clusters that alternate with smaller connecting links. Each link is encrusted with gorgeous French paste crystals that glitter and give the bracelet a striking look. The bracelet opens at a push clasp that is hidden within one of the links and the tongue of the clasp is stamped with hallmarks that indicate its French origin. There is also a clasped safety chain for added security. This eye catching bracelet would look fabulous worn day or night and would make a marvelous addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The bracelet measures 7" long, is 1" wide at its widest point, and slightly more than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver links and all of the French paste stones are intact. The clasp is in good working condition and the safety chain is intact.
