Victorian Gold Filled Hanging Etruscan Acorn Earrings
A beautifully decorative pair of Etruscan acorn earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These unique gold filled earrings depict very ornate acorns, which have an elaborate Etruscan wirework surface. Each earring hangs from a clasped earring wire which attaches to an Etruscan ball topper. Hanging below is a link that represents the cap of the acorn which has a delicate row of tassels which surrounds the outside of the cap, creating an attractive fringe, giving movement to the design. Dangling freely from below the cap is a three dimensional teardrop shape, which represents the fullest part of the acorn. The delicate Etruscan work covering the surface of each earring is simply superb and gives the earrings a very attractive and rich look. A delicate and unusual pair of earrings, they look marvelous when worn and would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 1 1/4" long. The width and diameter of the cap is 1/2" and the dangling piece below is approximately 5/16" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold filled setting and both clasped earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
