A wonderful and artistic pair of sterling silver earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Each begins with a sterling ball topper attached to a simple earring wire. A folded sterling link below completes the surmount, which holds an open sterling disc that dangles below, forming the front-facing hoop. Freely dangling in the center of the hoop is a single sterling ball, which adds lovely movement to the design. The front surface of the surmount and hoop displays a gorgeous hand etched design with a scrolled floral motif. Lightweight and comfortable to wear, these beautiful Victorian earrings would make a marvelous addition to any collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs 1 7/8" long. The hoop has an outer diameter of 1” and an inner diameter of 5/8”. The hanging sterling ball measures approximately 7mm.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting and the earring wires are secure and intact. Although the earrings have been polished, there is some natural patina that remains on the silver, which is normal for a Victorian piece and adds to the depth of the design.
