A gorgeous pair of ornate earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These beautiful handmade earrings are particularly large in size but very lightweight and comfortable to wear. Vibrant 18kt yellow gold twists around to form a decorative design that frames a teardrop shaped garnet stone. The garnets are held within a gold bezel in the center of each earring and display a rich, deep red color that looks magnificent against the yellow gold. Each earring hangs from a garnet and yellow gold topper, which attaches to a simple gold earring wire. The back of the earrings have an exposed open wire frame, and a light engraving is visible, which appears to read "No. 655." The elaborate design has a very elegant Victorian look which look striking when worn. They would make a spectacular addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 2 7/8" long, are 6/8" across at their widest point and have a depth of 1/2" at their thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings are excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the garnet stones, all of which are intact.
