Edwardian Plat. & 18kt Diamond & Sapphire Earrings
Absolutely exquisite sapphire and diamond earrings from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! These gorgeous earrings are made of platinum topped 18kt yellow gold and adorn the infamous Princess Diana diamond and sapphire design. Each earring has a single, very large, oval shaped sapphire stone that rests in the center of a border of sparkling diamonds. The sapphires are set in a platinum topped bezel setting and weigh approximately 3.53ct tw. The stones have exquisite color and a faceted face and pointed, faceted back. The rich, vibrant stone is surrounded by ten sparkling, old Mine cut diamonds that have an approximate total weight of 2ct tw (1ct in each ear). The earrings hang from a diamond accented link which hangs from a diamond surmount that rests at the base of a clasped gold earring wire. Both hanging diamonds are bezel set and old Mine cuts, with the top stone weighing approximately .25ct and the bottom stone weighing .05ct. The overall total diamond weight for the earrings is 2.60ct tw. They are beautifully made and simply a work of art. The earrings are absolutely stunning and would be fabulous for a special collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs 1 1/2" long, is 1/2" at the widest point and has a depth of 1/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum and gold setting and all of the diamonds and sapphires are intact. The clasped earrings wires are secure and in good working condition.
