Victorian Gilted Bohemian Garnet Dangling Earrings

SKU: 32654

Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones used in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed back setting made of rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold'.

A pair of gorgeous fiery red Bohemian garnet earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These stunning earrings begin with a flower of faceted garnets which hang from a 14kt yellow gold wire. Dangling from the garnet flower is an arch-shaped design, encrusted with small and larger garnet stones. Swinging from the center of this unique arch is a teardrop shaped design, which is also encrusted with faceted garnet stones. The center of this teardrop is cut out, with a single faceted, vibrant garnet stone hanging freely in the center. Dangling from the bottom of each earring are 7 graduating bars, with the longest in the center. The smallest bar holds 4 garnets, while the longest holds 6. All of the garnet stones are bead set within a closed back silver gilt setting. These bohemian garnet earrings are simply exceptional, and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurement: Each earring hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, measures 7/8” at its widest point, and has a depth less than 1/8”.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to any of the bohemian garnets or to the silver gilt earring setting. All of the garnet stones are intact.
