A fantastic pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These fabulous earrings are made of sterling silver and 12kt rose and yellow gold. Each earring begins with a sterling round topper that has a simple yet beautiful, gold raised flower wirework design on top. Dangling below each topper is a larger, wonderfully ornate round link which has an ancient Roman coin set in the center. The coins have a smooth gold frame which is surrounded by a cutout design and a fine beadwork border. Each coin shows the profile of a Roman soldier's head complete with a detailed helmet. The back of the earrings reveal a design of a lion with script. The earrings hang from a gold earring wire. A wonderful set with a beautiful and unique look, these marvelous earrings would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang 1 1/2" long, are approximately 6/8" at the widest point, and are 3/16" at the thickest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver or to the 12kt gold.
