A fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself, making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. The fob would have been used to seal the wax of a letter or note.

An interesting and very unique fob from the Art Deco (ca1930) era! Made of 10kt yellow gold, this unusual piece features a clear glass bead with painted green details depicting a simple globe at the center. The globe rests on the gold base of the fob seal, which is diamond shaped with swirled, etched gold details. The bottom of the fob reveals a faceted amethyst stone, which displays a vivid purple color and is bezel set within the base. Resting atop the globe is the face of a small gold devil, which has large wide ears, a sneaky expression on his face, and two horns at the top of his head. The fob hangs from a simple gold jump ring, making it easy to hang and wear. It could be worn alone on a gold chain, or added to a charm bracelet or necklace. A very unique piece, it would be perfect for any fob collector and would make a charming addition to any collection!

Measurements: The fob hangs 1" long, is 5/8" at the widest point, and 3/8" thick. The glass globe is approximately 10mm.

Condition: The overall condition of the fob is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or amethyst stone, which is intact. There are a few small dings in the surface of the glass globe, which is normal for a piece of this era and not noticeable when worn. The bail is secure and in good working condition.
