A fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. Many fobs have a flat base, which can be left smooth or with a seal, which would have been used to seal the wax of a letter or note.

A spectacular carved ivory fob from the Victorian (ca1880) era! material, antique This beautiful hand carved ivory figural fob is wonderfully detailed and depicts a three-dimensional hunting dog. The incredible craftsmanship includes delicate facial features, floppy ears, a full swinging tail, and textured detail to represent fur. The dog is featured prominently adopt an ivory platform with a carved criss-cross pattern at each sides. At the base of the fob is an oval-shaped ivory seal, which rests below a 12kt rose gold seam. The piece hangs from a simple gold loop, which is ideal for attaching to a bail and hanging from your favorite chain. An unusual Victorian piece, it would make a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The ivory fob measures approximately 1" tall, is 1 1/4" at the widest point and 1/2" at the thickest point.

Condition: The overall condition of the fob is very good. There is minor wear that commesurates with its age.
