A fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. A spinner or swivel fob has two or more plaques which can be turned or swiveled within a moveable bracket. This allows the wearer a choice as to which face is displayed prominently!

An exquisite and unusual spinner locket fob from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! Round in shape and set in 15kt rose gold, the fob hangs sideways from a gorgeous spinner hinge. The spinner is comprised of two griffins' heads clenching slithering snakes in their mouth. The bodies' of the snakes curve down the side of the fob and curl around the hinge on both sides. The fob is double sided with a carved onyx depicting an intaglio on one side and a 15kt rose gold engraved plaque on the other. The engraved initials are written in a flowing fancy script and read "WM". A beautiful border of alternating platinum and 15kt rose gold form a checkerboard pattern around the onyx intaglio. Between the two fobs is a locket which is hinged and opens from the top. Attached at the top of the spinner is a gold "O" ring which is perfect for hanging from your favorite chain. A spectacular piece, this would make any collection complete!

Measurement: Laying flat, the spinner fob measures approximately 1 3/4" long from the top of the "O" ring to the bottom and approximately 1 1/2" at the widest point. The onyx intaglio measures approximately 7/8" in diameter.

Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. The intaglio is in fine condition, with no apparent chips. The spinning swivel moves easily and smoothly but is not particular tight, therefore most easily lies flat. There are a few dents in the gold in the side of the locket that are not apparent when worn. The locket closes securely and easily.
