An exquisite hand carved mother of pearl horse head and horseshoe pendant/fob from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stunning piece is made of 2 solid pieces of mother of pearl which are intricately hand carved to depict a horses' head as well as a horseshoe. The shell fob has rich, carved detail and wonderful iridescent color. They hang from gold-filled findings and a swivel watch hook which is perfect for attaching to a long chain. The horseshoe is particularly large in size and has carved details in the surface as well as gold-filled accents. A horse bit is riveted on to the front which adds simply wonderful detail and a 3-dimensional look. Dangling from the bottom is a complimentary mother of pearl head which has gold-filled reins and eye covers that wrap around the horse and are riveted through it. This stunning piece would look fabulous worn on a long chain or cord and is perfect for the horsey lover!
Measurements: The entire piece hangs approximately 5 5/8" at the longest point. The horses' head measures approximately 1 1/8" long, is 1 3/8" at the widest point and 1/4" thick. The horseshoe measures 1 1/8" long, is 1 1/8" at the widest point and a little less than 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the carved mother of pearl pieces or to the gold filled findings. The swivel watch hook is secure and in good working condition.
